Also known as: Chat Model

An instruct (chat) model is a base LM further tuned to follow instructions and multi-turn chat formats. It expects templated roles and usually behaves better as an assistant out of the box.

Domain CPT on instruct models can scramble formatting — hence a small follow-up SFT.
